Can You Change Class in Mistfall Hunter? (Answered)

Short answer: no confirmed class change — class is locked per character, and the community’s answer is an alt. But before you roll a new Gyldhunter, check whether the thing bothering you is actually the class.

Three fixes, cheapest first

1. Change your weapon path (free, instant)

Every class specializes across two weapon paths, and mid-fight weapon switching is a core mechanic, not an advanced trick. A lot of “this class feels bad” is really “I’ve been using one weapon in situations it’s wrong for.”

If it feels… Try
Too slow to kill things Swap to your class’s aggressive path (hammer over shield, dagger over dual blades)
Too fragile Swap to the defensive path and open fights behind it
Fine in groups, awful alone Not a weapon problem — see #3

2. Change how you play, not what you play

The second most common cause is playing a class against its design. A Seer solo will feel terrible no matter what you equip; a Shadowstrix diving packs of Corroded will die forever. Read your class page and check you’re not fighting the kit — the builds hub has the intended priorities for each.

3. Roll an alt (the actual “class change”)

If the class genuinely isn’t for you, make a new character. What that costs and what it doesn’t:

Carries over Starts fresh
Account-side permanent progression (details) That character’s gear and inventory
Everything you learned about routes, extraction and PvP Class-specific weapon familiarity
Your banked knowledge of the economy

In a full-loot extraction game, the map knowledge and extraction discipline you’ve built are worth far more than the gear you’re leaving behind — and gear is the thing you were always going to lose anyway.

Picking the switch target

What’s frustrating you Switch to
Dying to mistakes you can see coming Mercenary — the most forgiving kit in the game
Useless without a squad Blackarrow — the archer, best solo class
Things take too long to die Sorcerer — highest damage in the launch meta
Bored of fighting monsters Shadowstrix — the rogue, built to hunt players
Want your squad to actually win Seer — force multiplier, weak alone

FAQ

Can you change class in Mistfall Hunter?

Class is chosen per character, and no in-game class-change or full respec has been confirmed. The practical answer players use is an alt character — which costs less than it sounds, because account-side progress carries over.

Do I lose everything if I make a new character?

No. Gear and inventory are per-character, but the permanent account-side systems you've invested in don't vanish. The real cost is re-gearing, not re-learning.

Can I change my weapon path instead?

That's the cheaper move. Every class specializes across two weapon paths, and you can switch weapons mid-fight — so a big chunk of 'this class feels wrong' is actually fixable by changing your weapon, not your class.

Which class should I switch to?

Depends what's frustrating you: dying too fast → Mercenary; feel useless solo → Blackarrow (the archer); want to hit harder → Sorcerer; want to hunt players → Shadowstrix (the rogue). Full comparison on the tier list.
